Almost don’t remember
What she looked like now
So many years, too many tears
And things I didn’t know how to say

She was afraid I know

Sometimes she'd break down and cry
I could never understand why

Poetry and pottery
And writing children’s tales
Brought out the best and left the rest
The things I’d rather didn’t stay

The joy I still remember
The fun and crazy times
Clouded though I must confess
By things I keep locked far away
